You may already be familiar with titles becoming "free to keep" on Steam, alongside demos that give you a taster of what the full version has in store. However, there is a rare variant that combines the two: a free period during which you can try the game before it reverts to a paid title at a later date. These usually come with a discount for purchasing the game, which is great if you enjoyed what you played and want to keep going.

Well, if you want to give Forts a try, now's your chance. The game is currently free to play until September 1st and comes with a 50% discount if you decide you want to keep it. And trust me; you're going to want to grab your friends with this one.

Forts is by no means a brand new game, releasing all the way back in 2017. However, it seems to have stood the test of time, as it has 94% positive recent reviews at the time of writing. As such, it's a good idea not to judge this one just because it's an older title.

The idea behind Forts is that you build, well, forts. You then equip your fort with the firepower it needs to take down the enemy forts. If you've ever played Worms, it's kind of like that, except each worm is a gun-toting fortress of doom.

Forts' real strong point is its multiplayer modes. If your friend group is the kind that loves shooting chunks at one another, you can host a big deathmatch session where the toughest fort wins.
